Argyle Legends vs Elburton Villa Vets 2012

Sunday 13th May

Argyle Legends preparations for their forthcoming fixture against Man Utd Legends were thrown into chaos when they were beaten 5-0 in their latest fixture against Elburton Vets.

Defending an unbeaten six match run the Legends were outplayed in every department and only a brilliant display by goalkeeper Rhys Wilmot prevented an even bigger defeat.

The Legends fell behind in the 17th minute from a penalty after a foul by Darren Tallon on the home forward.

The Legends were still trying to get into the game when they went 2-0 down after 24 minutes to a hotly disputed goal. With the assistant referee flagging for offside a good 20 seconds before the ball crossed the line, the goal was allowed to stand.

Matters got even worse for the Legends when they conceded a third goal one minute before the half time interval.

With Spencer Cooper replacing the injured Darren Garner the Legends pushed Leigh Cooper into midfield with Cooper S. slotting in at full back at the start of the second half.

The second period continued in the same vein with the home side dictating the play and it came as no surprise when live wire striker Mark Conday made it 4-0 to the hosts in the 60th minute.

With only pride to play for the Legends did start passing the ball well and were a little unfortunate to concede a fifth goal in the final minute of a game they will want to forget.

However the beauty of football is that there is always the next game and what better opponents to start another unbeaten run against than Manchester United Legends.
