Argyle Legends vs Grampound FC 2013
Sunday 27th October 2013
Argyle Legends embarked on a busy period of 3 games in 4 weeks with an emphatic 8 - 0 victory over a plucky Grampound FC X1. The game played to celebrate the opening of the village teams new pitch and changing rooms was watched by almost a third of their population of 600.
With a storm forecast for later in the day it was the Legends who made a whirlwind start to the game scoring 2 goals in the first 15 mins. The first in the 4th minute was a simple tap in from Bradley Swiiggs. Eleven mins later Danny O'Hagan marked his return from a 10 month injury by doubling the score with a smart turn and finish.
The hosts were restricted to long range efforts as the Legends dominated the midfield with Leigh Cooper and Mark Rowe outstanding. With Dominic Richardson and Mark Damerell also lively on the flanks it was only a matter of time before the Legends increased their lead.
The third goal duly came in the 30th minute when Swiiggs fired home from just inside the penalty area. On the stroke of half time in a game reduced to 40 minutes each way, Richardson made it 4 - 0 to the Legends.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first with the home team never seriously troubling Legends goalkeeper Garry Penhaligon.
Ten minutes into the half Swiggs scored the Legends 5th goal and completed a well deserved hat trick.
On the hour mark, Richardson scored his second and made it 6 - 0 to the Legends.
With 5 mins remaining that man Swiggs scored his fourth and the Legends 7th goal with another cool finish.
In the last minute Mark Rowe made it 8 - 0 with a low drive from just outside the penalty area.
