Argyle Legends vs St. Agnes Bolster Veterans 2010
Argyle Legends produced a thoroughly professional performance to defeat St. Agnes Bolster Vets by 3 goals to 1 at Enys Park on Sunday 7th November.
This success was also mirrored off the pitch with over £500 raised for 'Jeans for Genes' a Charity for children with genetic disorders.
Argyle Legends welcomed back Chris Harrison, John Uzzell, and Leigh Cooper after long layoffs and had Drustyn Ward (the father of the child with Costello Syndrome) guesting for them.
The early exchanges were confined to the middle of the park with neither goalkeeper being seriously tested.
In the 17th minute the Legend's Darren Garner had a shot well save by the home goalkeeper.
Two minutes later Martin Barlow almost opened the scoring, his shot again being well saved.
The Legends defence, with Chris Harrison and John Uzzell outstanding, were in total control and goalkeeper Gary Penhaligon was rarely troubled. St. Agnes did go close to scoring after 34 minutes with Legends full back Geoff Battams clearing off the line.
Spencer Cooper opened the scoring for the Legend's in 37th minute when he calmly slotted home following a fine through ball from Martin Barlow.
The Legends increased their lead in the 41st minute when Michael Shilton (son of Peter) made it 2-0 following a corner on the right.
The first half ended without any further scoring.
The Legends dominated possession at the start of the second half and were awarded a penalty in the 55th minute when Martin Barlow was fouled. Drustyn Ward was entrusted with the spot kick and made no mistake, making it 3-0 to the Legends.
As the Legends eased up St. Agnes came more into the game but found the midfield trio of Barlow, Garner and Leigh Cooper in fine form.
After 75 minutes the hosts pulled a goal back to the delight of the home crowd.
There was no further scoring and the game ended in a 3-1 Legends victory.
