Argyle Legends vs St Blazey/Cornwall Vets 2017
Sunday 9th April 2017
Argyle Legends made it four games unbeaten when they drew 3-3 in their latest game against A Dash of Silver X1 at Kimberley Stadium,Saltash.
The Legends continued their recent habit of conceding an early goal when they found themselves trailing after only 3 minutes when a shot from 25 yards flew into the bottom corner of the net giving goalkeeper Carl Bradford no chance of saving.
The Legends responded and started to dominate possession with Sean Sullivan, Bradley Swiggs (twice), Darren Garner and Jamie Lowryall going close before Mark Damerell equalised with a stunning volley on the stroke of half time.
During the half time interval the Legends replaced Leigh Cooper with Stewart Yetton with Mark Damerell switching to left back and Yettonpartnering Swiggs in attack.
As in the first half the Legends were slow out of the blocks and were indebted to keeper Bradford who made three great stops in the first 6 minutes of the half. During this period David Byrne sustained an injury and was immediately replaced by Steve Brownlow.
In the 50th minute Garner put the Legends 2-1 ahead with a superb lob and 5 minutes later Yetton set up Swiggs for a simple tap in to make it 3-1 to the Legends.
On the hour Jamie Lowry hobbled off to be replace by John Beynon.
With 15 minutes remaining the hosts brought on Daniel Silver, the man who recovered from Prostate cancer and has been fundraising for this cause for a number of years.
5 minutes later A Dash of Silver reduced the arrears with a controversial goal. With the Legends defence deliberately standing still to allow Daniel Silver to score, a fellow forward took the ball and scored.
Buoyed by this goal the hosts equalised in stoppage time when an opportunist shot was deflected past Bradford to make the final score 3-3.
It was later announced that the afternoon had raised £685 for Prostate cancer.
