Argyle Legends vs St Blazey Legends 2015

Sunday March 29th

Argyle Legends made it 3 games without defeat when they ran out 3 - 2 winners in their latest fixture against St. Blazey Legends at Blaise Park.
The Legends gave a debut to former goalkeeper Dave Philp and welcomed back Mark Saunders,Bradley Swiggs, Darren Garner and Danny O:Hagan after lengthy absences.
The game played to raise money for Cancer Charities kicked off in blustery conditions and it was the Legends who quickly adapted to the heavy pitch.
After going close on a couple of occasions the Legends went ahead after 10 minutes when Danny O:Hagan converted a penalty after being felled by the home goalkeeper.
The Legends continued to threaten with O;Hagan striking the post on two occasions before a long ball upfield found the Legends defence appealing unsuccessfully for offside as the home forward rounded Philp to level the score.
The Legends hit back immediately and Bradley Swiggs restored the lead in the 31st minute with a cool finish after a great through ball from Paul Edwards.
The Legends were constantly caught offside by a well drilled St. Blazey defence and their was no more scoring as the first half ended 2-1 to the Legends.
At the start of the second half Damien Davey replaced the injured Leigh Cooper. The unfortunate Davey lasted only 5 minutes before having to leave the pitch with a suspected ruptured achilles, being replaced by Andy Bacon.
After wasting numerous chances to extend their lead O;Hagan made it 3-1 in the 65th minute with a deft header from a Mark Rowe free kick.
The hosts refused to buckle and reduced the arrears in the 68th minute with a fine goal.
The Legends continued to create and waste chance after chance and were indebted to Geoff Battams for two last ditch clearances as the game ended with a 3-2 victory.
